Week 9 -10 rethink of dossier

Dossier Problems: Cultural variation There will be different culture and manner from place to place. Conflict might happen if international students are not careful enough. Besides, people have different culture background has different taste or interest. Students finds it hard to get into the new environment partly because of the variation. Communication barrier It is a common issue for many international students. Sometimes, as they have not been familiar with the new language yet, they miss or misunderstand what other people said. Sometimes, they fail to express what they think accurately, which cause misunderstanding too. For example, as they are not familiar with their second language they tend to use the simple words like "good" or "bad". Those words are not always helpful when one is trying to demonstrate a concept or an idea. Feedback from my tutor: The web can be a sub touch point that help to advertise the event.

Week 9.2 development

How to connect to the Five ways of well being Connect The app connects international students with the local people and the local place. Take notice As the lastest discussion on the community is showing on the homepage. It actually help students to take notice on the school life or some other information in the city. Give App user will share their experience in response wihile using the app. Keep learning The app help students to learn about the local culture. The FAQ option helps students to learn how to solve common issues that international students faces. Be active There is information of activities on the app. By encouraging them to participate in the events, it help them to be active in the new enviornment. Through taking part in the events, students can be more familiar with the local people.

Week 9 Presentation

(The color of the post differs when i print it out. Perhap i should change the color into cmyk next time) Feedback: The poster is lack of information, it is supposed to suggest other people to get to the app or an event. The journey map is not clear enough. The last touch point is missing.

I was planing to come up with three poster that represents the three touch points of the project. I am worried that whether i have enough time to get three poster done while i can have the other two finished.

Week 8.2 development& feedback

Photoshop prototype: I was centred the logo on the page at first but one of my tutor suggests me to place it in a different way. He said "centre everything is just lazy design". Besides, one of my classmate responsed that the blue color make it looks like a  facebook. So i make another version to see how it works. The homepage for now (Firday).

Week 8.1 Display and discuss the user journey

Feedbacks from my classmates: The brochure could be in the before part. Feedbacks from my tutor: There are too many objects here and there should be more image on it to show the rough plan of the project.

Week 7-8 What will be in the dossier (The user Journey)

1. The problems    International students can not integrate into the new enviornment. 2. The Solution (Before, During, After)     Before- Orientation, website, App         before students leave their countries. There can be orientation on the local place.         Website and app can help them to know about Wellington and the campus.     During- App, Poster, Brochure         There are many things that international students would like to know when they just been to Wellington. Brochure that introduces the school environment can be useful.     After- App, Website, weekly club activities         App, Website, club activities can help them communicate with the local people. 3. Week 7.2 App prototype development

As the feedback on Tuesday suggested: Questions: What international students care the most  when they have just been to a new city? About accommodation  About improving language About the local culture Course relative School relative About life (e.g.: Shopping) About jobs (Those are the information I think students might want to know from my experience as an International student. )

Prototyping software (tutor advised): https://proto.io We are supposed to develop the prototype and have a rough idea of the 3 touch points now. Here is the 3 touch points for now: Orientation&App > App > App&booklet (I considered to have a website and a relative video as well, It might be in the users journey later.) Besides, without considering the necessity of the clients,  I would like to create a poster as well. Another tutor asked me to come up with a name for the project. Name of the project (options): The second home International student link International Student Helping Network (ISHN) Birds Branch Connecting Network of International Student (CNIS) International student Land (ISland) Landing Area Birds Nest New Zealand (BNNZ) Birds Nest Wellington (BNW-brave new world) Birds Nest Besides, he also suggested me to think about who is the client of this project. Temperarily, it is the Massey University.

Week 7.1 experience prototype

We did user testing to each other on this Tuesday. Here is the prototype of my app.  Details: The sign up page pages: The home page FEEDBACK: My classmates had given me a lot of valuable advices. 1. The hierarchy  of the home page information is not clear (Confusing). 2. it could have a language option as not every international students is confidents about their English (They might still need guide in their first language). 3. More functions: Like function to help improving students' language.                                Like function to introduce the local culture. 4. Above all, the main issue is the app does not encourage people to use (intriguing and unique functions). *Those pictures were when I did a user testing of other people's project.
